Celebration of World Environment Day on 5th June, 2024
IWWA , Guwahati Centre observed World Environment Day on 5th June ,24 in association with Rajgarh High School, Rajgarh,Guwahati. The program started with planting of a Neem tree by Student Porimal Roy.Also subsequently planted fruit trees such as White Jamun, Black plum, Indian Olive,Guava,Litchi, Mango ,Ber etc as well as other local varieties of trees in the school compound as well as in the Playground area. A welcome song (Jyoti Sangeet)was sung by a group of students along with the Music Teacher in Harmonium The purpose of the meeting was explained by Hony. Secretary Pranjal Borah and also briefed on importance of world environment day, conserving the bio diversity which was followed by elaborate speech from the Chairman Dr. Milanjit Bhattacharyya , past president and retired chief engineer PHE Mr. S R Saikia , past Secretary Mr. Jagat Ram Borthakur, treasurer Kabita Sarma from IWWA end on various aspects of Climate change and Land restoration, desertification and draught resistance Teacher Mrs.Bimala Barman and Mr. Sasanka Kalita as well students Sri Porimal Roy and Miss Anamika Biswas delivered their speeches on World Environment day and its importance An essay competition was held on the subject “ Impact of Human on Climate Change “ for class IX and X students A drawing competition was also held on the subject “Pollution” for students from Class VI to Class VIII. Mometoes and cash prizes were awarded to the winners/1st three rank holders in both the Category post evaluation Chairman Milanjit Bhattacharyya conducted a quiz competition amongst all attendees which was well enjoyed and participated equally by students and teachers.
