Celebration of World Earth Day – April 22, 2025
Celebration of World Earth Day – April 22, 2025 On April 22, 2025, the Indore Center, in collaboration with Holkar Science College (Autonomous Institute), organized a special event to commemorate World Earth Day (also known as International Mother Earth Day or Vasundhara Diwas). On this occasion, our life member Dr. Dilip Waghela (Chief Scientist, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board) and renowned environmentalist Dr. O. P. Joshi (former Principal, Gujarati Science College) shared their insights on crucial topics such as deforestation, its impact on the water cycle, human health, environmental degradation, and pollution. They also emphasized how simple yet impactful efforts can help each of us contribute to protecting our planet. Dr. Sanjeeda Iqbal (Head, Department of Botany, Holkar Science College) highlighted the importance of youth involvement in such initiatives and stressed the need to engage them in creative and constructive environmental activities. The event was smoothly conducted by the students, who played a key role in hosting and managing the proceedings. The program concluded with all attendees taking an environmental pledge — committing to actions like planting trees, reducing the use of petrol/diesel vehicles, and promoting the use of public transportation. The event ended with a note of thanks.
